I had a great summer on the island! I decided to return to doing trunk shows at Tom's Burned Down Cafe. It is really the best and most fun way to sell my jewelry--I love to connect with people in person, so I can answer any questions they have, and share information and stories about the elements I use in my work. I also get to hang out with my friends and make new ones, Listening to great music while working on-site, often making custom creations, on the spot! This summer, my biggest challenge was to recreate a necklace I had made so that it would hold an e-cigarette! Hmmm, might just be a market for that!?
This year, as always, I have turned in a new direction, and I'm making things with repurposed Skyy Vodka and Bombay gin bottles that have been broken and tumbled in a rock polisher. I never find blue glass in the lake anymore, so I don't feel this is cheating, and as it turns out, I had trouble making them fast enough! At the end of one evening, nearly every woman in the bar was wearing a pair of my earrings! In addition to the repurposed glass, I am also using stained glass in my work, in my jewelry, and--NEW ADDITION: suncatchers! I am in Iowa again for the winter, or at least part of it. We don't have a solid plan yet whether we will stay here or move on at some point. In any case, stay tuned, as I will soon be loading my newest creations on my jewelry page and my mobile page!

I am an artist and jewelry designer who creates using found and salvaged objects. My work is authentic and a bit rustic, which is how I like it. I like the look of time and wear--it speaks of history, rather than manufacturing..august, 2011
