MOSAICS AND YARN PAINTINGS

This is a box made from the shell of a pie pumkin. I slow baked the shell (after using the insides for pie and baked pumpkin seeds, of course!) until it was as hard as wood. Then I "yarn-painted" the outside with scrap yarn and glue, beads and even a monarch butterfly wing! The inside is painted blue royal blue.
I call this a "fortune box" because I will place a few fortunes in it for you to pick one whenever you feel the urge for a little magical guidance. You can also add fortunes of your own for your family, using a different color of paper for every family member. Just remember to pick a different color than yours! Post it notes work great for this--write the fortune on it and fold the sticky part over so it is stuck closed.
If you don't want to use it for fortunes, It could be used for keeping business cards, matchbooks, stamps, dental floss picks or other small, dry, lightweight items. I don't recommend using it for food items other than perhaps wrapped hard candy.
